“Floral and delicately spiced, without lacking roundness.”

THE CREATORS’ WORDS

A new origin from Peru at PLAQ, Junín. This cocoa opens with an unexpected vegetal freshness, with notes of rose, geranium, and jasmine. A subtle woody touch of black tea follows, delicate and almost spicy. Then come notes of honey, fig, and date. A creamy finish that lingers and unfolds with roundness. A chocolate that surprises — floral at first, then woody, generous through to the very end.

A surprising vegetal freshness paired with floral notes of rose, geranium, and jasmine. Followed by delicate woody spice notes reminiscent of black tea.
Then a smooth, lingering finish with hints of honey and creamy dried fruits such as fig and date.

Organic cacao beans from Junín, Peru (84%), and organic blond cane sugar from the State of São Paulo, Brazil (16%). 84% minimum cacao. No lecithin.
No added cocoa butter.

Where the Andes plunge into the Peruvian Amazon lies the region of Junín, at the heart of which sits the district of Pangoa. Between 400 and 3,000 meters above sea level, forests unfold one after another, and microclimates constantly shift. Nitrogen-rich soils, steady humidity, intense rainy seasons — a rare geography.

Pangoa. From the word pangotsi: home, the place where one feels at home. Communities have lived on these lands for more than 3,500 years. It is here, in the Junín region, that the COAS cooperative was established in 2002.

Today, the cooperative brings together more than 500 families working around cacao. Asháninka and Nomatsiguenga communities who have cultivated this land for generations. One third women. More than twenty years of collective work — organic and Fairtrade certified — on one of Peru’s most singular terroirs.
